I have just noticed that SBIG is now also offering Sony sensors in their cameras. These seem to have a higher read noise though and are more pricey than QSI.

QSI is hard to compete against as how many top images have we seen using QSI cameras? Hundreds.

But I must say apart from the ugly colour (I quite like the standard red SBIG colour), the ability to combine with an AO etc looks appealing. SBIG has a lot of accessories. The ability to run off a smart phone could possibly be useful for a portable setup.

Yes. AO can be important for some, and so is having a separate FW - if one wants to swap/upgrade the camera you can keep the FW and AO.

The spec sheet states 1s full frame download. If that's in high quality then it might explain slightly higher read noise. QSI downloads full frame in more than 10s in a high quality mode, and 1s with higher noise.
