Looking through the latest Sky & Space magazine I noticed an advertisement for the new Skywatcher EQ6 Go To mount. The company listing the mount is " TelescopeShop.com.au " who hail from WA. At $1995 the mount seemed like a pretty good deal particularly as it incorporates the new Version 3 Synscan. Freight was quoted at $30 which in my opinion was quite reasonable. I decided to go ahead with the purchase and rang the company last Monday morning and it arrived on Thursday morning which is pretty good going this time of year. The mount was sent directly by courier from Tasco Sales in Brookvale and arrived in perfect condition. What really surprised me is that it was the white EQ6 Pro version (not the black one shown in the ad) which is a bonus as I have the HEQ5 Pro version as well. I have it on good authority that the Version 3 controller will hook straight up to my HEQ5 Pro with no problems. The HEQ5 currently has Version 2.05 which is perfectly adequate but it will be interesting to see how V3 performs. Apart from the usual supplied cables, the mount also came with a 300mm dovetail bar which should come in quite handy. Two 5.1 kg weights are supplied instead of only one 5.1 kg with the HEQ5.

This purchase definitely brought on the rain around Sydney the last few days , can't wait to give it a try out though. I mainly bought the EQ6 to mount a Vixen NA 140SSf refractor which is on order and hopefully it should prove to be a good combination.

Needless to say I have no affiliation with the company who supplied the mount but would like to say that the service was superb in every respect.

The white ones are better something to do with attaining thermal equilibrium facilitating non possitive heat sink reversal and you certainly notice the difference.. However white ones demand more love an like to be dusted frequently.
They sure bring in the clouds..great price maybe the go would be to talk direct to Tasco at Brookvale if you are thinking of buying they must be able to do that price or better one would think..mine came from there via Andrews Communications I guess I dont know how it works... but the little use I have given it so far I must say it is fantastic.. have yet to set it up train it etc and get auto guiders working but so far it is very forgiving, very smooth and I love the colour. The PE seems minimal from a shot last night and it is a gradual move off , not a jump that you cant get on top of before the damage is done..

Saw that price and wanted to jump at it myself! Unfortunately it's a few months too early.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

That looks like a good deal for the EQ6 Steve. I am intrigued by the Vixen NA140, it is a very interesting scope. I would love to hear your thoughts when you receive it.
