Greetings,
There is a good Asteroidal Occultation involving 2672 Pisek, predicted for Saturday evening, 30th December at 12:05UT = 11:05pm (summer time).
The target star is brightish at mag. 9.4 however the asteroid is "small" at about 20km. The rank is 11 which means the shadow could go almost anywhere between Albury and Sydney.
Or Christchurch and Wellington.
Or Adelaide and Port Augusta

I have made an interactive google map...

SteveR and I will go mobile to monitor each side of the path and we are seeking more help to try and catch the event. Can you to lend a hand? We need home based (backyard) observers and mobile observers. Home based observers, please let me know your latitude and longitude and I'll print up a list of paths covered, so we can station mobile observers elsewhere.
To date we have 5 home/backyard telescopes and two mobile telescopes but we need more.
I'll post finder charts if anyone needs them.
Regards
