I did some mirrorless camera imaging on the weekend.
This one was piggybacked on my CDK17 and autoguided.
Sony A7R2( 42.4mp backside illuminated full frame) on an AP1600 mount.
14 x 5 minutes F4.0, ISO640 under a 1/3rd moon.
Processed in Adobe Lightroom, PixInsight and Photoshop.

Really nice Greg
Your FOV is so much nicer than my APS-C!

Thanks for that. 85mm does cover a good area for this target.
Thanks Mike. Yes the Pentax 67 is a good source of cheap excellent lenses that can handle a 16803. This image though was with my Sony mirrorless camera and a Zeiss 85mm lens.
Thanks Collin. 50mm would be a closer match for APSc. Your image though is outstanding. I like how clear it is.So many stars in these images its a bit mind boggling.

The colour and contrast in the Milky Way is delicious. Love the streamers of dust hanging down like ribbons from Rho-Antares.

Aaaah yes...that would be because I peeked at your next Rho image :P...which was done using the Pentax lens, then I got confused in my reply ...both are quite nice and the fields are rather grand

Looks great Greg.
Having Rho and those golden star clouds together is a delicious contrast.

A very nice image Greg. I really like the idea of having a lens mounted on the big scope. I am wondering if 3 cooled mono cameras each with a lens, one for red, one for green and one for blue sitting of CDK would be an ultimate wide-field solution

Thanks for that. These mirrorless cameras have come a long way and if they were mono sensors and cooled they would be very formidable.
Thanks Marc. Widefield is fun. I've enjoyed your lens images over the years.
Yes that one is part of a mosaic. I was hoping to shot 6 panels but my generator pooped one night and I lost a lovely clear night. I got 4 panels at the end though. Processing isn't quite right on that one yet as it was done on my blue biased laptop.
Thanks Tim.

Thanks Rick. Its an extraordinary region. Also there are some surprises in that area that the Proline picked up. An image from that coming shortly.
The golden star fields are an amazing feature. I was happy there was enough field of view to capture both.
Hmm I have 3 cooled mono cameras. Those Pentax 67 lenses are quite cheap, under a $100 as I recall. This image though was with a Sony A7r2 mirrorless full frame camera with a backside illuminated sensor with the latest Sony sensor wizardy. If it were a mono sensor and cooled it would kick some serious goals. At ISO1600 read noise is less than 1 electron.
Thanks Louie.
