awww, poor matty....i had a really good sky last night but my tenpin league had their christmas party....so i went.....and the clouds parted....the situation sucked, my bowling sucked, astronomy club party tonight and its cloudy and that sucks too!
I know what yur goin thru!
I wish it would rain solid for a good 3 weeks or so, then go away for the rest of the year!
And seeing the grassy bits around Canberra 4 weeks ago i think you could use a really good dumping of rain!
You know what happened to me the other day!?
I set up my tripod outside for a viewing session, had everything aligned correctly and when im finished i pack my scope up but i throw a BBQ cover over my tripod (and it covers the whole thing) so i can whip the SCT out when i get a chance and not have to worry about realigning.....3 weeks i waited for the clouds to part, it rained here for a little bit the other day, and since i hadnt moved it in weeks i decided to pack it up...and Voila!....Blue skies all around!:D
Then i washed the car and it settled the blue sky problem!
So why not go bowling!!!????!!!!
Cheers!
Yeah .... bowling... now why didn't I think of that?
Don't get me wrong. I don't begrudge the rain...
but people, it's New Moon!
one has to make do with what one gets matt....
take some avis of the clouds. :)

New moon.....
Its the same old moon we've had for billions of years!
We want a smaller moon! Or one with a lower albedo!
A "New and Improved" Moon!
I'm with ya on this one Matt!:D
Cheers OMY... and thanks for indulging me:lol:
I feel better after that rant;)

I can almost hear him playing Pink Floyds "Obscured By Clouds" song in the distance!:P
Maybe i'll get some Jatz to go with the cheese!:D
i hate floyd! (oops did i say that? :P)
but i'll go some jatz n' cheese thanks :D
It's thick high cloud over the Mornington Peninsula - which is probably a result of me buying new binoculars and receiving confirmation of my membership of MPAS.
I imagine now I have access to the fantastic facillities of our local club it will be cloudy forever :(
As Ving would say.... make do with what you've got, and look at those clouds with your new binos:P:lol:
By the way... what's the dog's name? Mine is Jessie
leave me alone astro pooch! :P
we are expecting clear weather in sydney come next tuesday Rez so i am guessing the same for you :confuse3:
some clouds are pretty tho :)
Naughty astro pooch... nipping at astrobelle's heels like that:lol:
I just don't seem to be able to get through to her once she's got it in her mind to go a' huntin'!!!

Yes, new moon and clouds here too.
Cheers Petra
The little dog in my Avatar is my loyal 4yo Maltese Terrier named Bonnie. Although that was a baby photo, she's bigger now :)
I know exactly how you feel Matt, I thought it must have been clear in Canberra because I had brought it all down to Tura with me.
I've had solid cloud since arriving here with the exception of a sucker hole for about a half hour.
hope it gets better for you.
cheers
