SATURN Dec 20th + Titan & "Red" Collar

Hi All,

well I dragged the carcass from bed this morn... to a sky alight with skudding clouds. Hmmm, went ahead and hoped for the best. Had a few avis spoiled with thin cloud. Seeing was good, say 6-7/10. The attached is a taster, just a random selection from the avis processed directly in registax 4 (single point). Hopefully I can improve on this one once I start ppmcentring and being a bit more selective.

Still pretty happy with the result - my best for this Saturn season (easy to say when it's early days). The Cassini division is detectable all the way around. Titan also gets a look in.

It doesn't show as well on my Desktop screen, but also present is the phenomenom described by Steve Massey in the latest issue of Aust S&T of temporary red collar below the polar region... first time I think I"ve capture it.

Anyway, there it is.

You're starting to get that new cam humming along. Must have been reasonable seeing up there in Brisvegas overnight?

Very nice processing as well. I've said before how much I like the "look" of your images. Nothing's changed.

Nice detail Rob but the colour balance looks a bit off. Theres a lot of green in this image (im viewing with a crt).

Yeh, I'm not entirely happy with it but will invest a bit more time on colour for the subsequent processing. I find a BIG difference between my laptop and the CRT at work - this is optimised for the lappy.

Had a quick play with colour on the CRT. I've got it less green. Not sure if it's an improvement or not.

Hmmmm...

has now taken on a pinky/purple hue on my lappy.

Obviously shifted towards the red channel to improve appearance on the CRT

Ah well... can't please everyone RT....;)

Blinking brilliant image.

The differences between image quality on a CRT and LCD have been discussed here, but I've noticed differences between individual CRT's as well. I used to grab avi's on one puter, then process on another. The pics would look different on each one.
