Howdy.

Things have been moving slowly however; the obs is 95% there. Still some tidying up to do, cables, hubs, insulation under roof etc.

I am trying to get the spacing right to the flattener and I am unable to use the P-Flat 68II for my FLT 132 due to the short metal back distance(51.5mm) and the inability to get the guide camera to focus in the OAG when bunching it all up(not enough in focus on guide camera). I am trying to use my old TOA 35 flattener which is approx 117.5mm to metal back.

Can I get some feedback on this test image re the flattener distance via the stars in the image? Guiding is a bit how ya goin but that is down the track, baby steps is what I want right now.

Any other tips would be appreciated also.

Large JPG, stack of 5, no calibration frames, masked stretch and small AutoSTF

I tried to upload a .FIT however; PBase converts it to JPG anyway, or so it seems.

Please, be honest and please, be nice about it.

Thanks.

Probably best to post full res for advice like that Bart (http://www.pbase.com/grahammeyer/image/165709377/original). I'm not the expert on flattener distance tuning but I can see the problem and looks like what you suggest. Can you use trial and error to change the distance?

Hi Marcus, thanks for looking. It is supposed to be a hi res image, basically straight off the camera with an auto stretch however; pbase is redirecting to what looks like a mobile site. I am currently trying to get a response from them about it.

I wonder if this works?

Seems to, click on original for full size.

Surprizingly, clicking on the link in your post takes me to the hi res shot??

As to your comment, yes I have been trying to fiddle with the spacing, was looking for confirmation Im going the right way and if there were any other mechanical issues with the image I could address while I'm pulling apart and fiddling etc.

Looking pretty good to me Bart!

Have you thought about trying something like CCD Inspector if you want to get some quantitative info on flatness?

Paul

Good thought Mr Duck. I hadn't remembered about that. I'll give it a go.
