Here's an example of the large-scale pixel rejection feature that will be new in PI 1.8.5. It does a great job on these satellite trails...

I saw that post on the PI forums - very impressive. :)
Impressive. Thanks for the heads-up Rick.

That does an amazing job. A sub like that would normally be thrown out.

Up until now I have used PixelMath laboriously to overwrite the satellite trails. Hopefully, that won't be needed in future!
Cheers,
Rick.

C'mon Rick, come clean now... you just used the magic brush in Photoshop didn't you? :P

Looks like it will also do a better job when stacking comets!
Next release looks to have some great features! When's the next big comet due? :)
Cheers
Andrew.

Hmmm. Judging but the (at least) two identical clusters of hot pixels it looks like this is being done using a stack of 17 subs or so ... wouldn't think that's anything special.

That's correct, Marcus. It's a stack, not a single sub. The nice thing is that you don't have to crank the high rejection parameter right down to get rid of all traces of the trails, so you don't end up throwing away SNR in the rest of the image.
Cheers,
Rick.
