Hi all
Just a quick update regarding the inaugural Border Stargaze 2007.
20900
Firstly, our society website (Astronomical Society of Albury-Wodonga) has undergone a massive revamp http://www.asaw.org.au/ thanks to a very generous donation of website/design by DevX Creations (http://www.devxcreations.com/) & MDR Designs (http://www.morgandr.com/). We now able to include some further information regarding the event, so check out the site.
We anticipate program and registration details to finalised by January 2007 - so watch this thread and this space http://www.asaw.org.au/?pid=&p=15 for updates.
Looking forward to your comments/feedback.
Cheers Petra

We're pretty excited about the Stargaze here in Bright, Petra, and I'm a definite starter. The event will flush a lot of other astro-trogs out of the mountains, I'm sure. There must be heaps of other groups and individuals around the region who'll jump at the chance of attending a big event so close to home. Do Wangaratta, Benalla and Shepparton have astronomy groups?

Excellent news 33South - we look forward to seeing you.
There will be more information regarding the event posted to the ASAW / Border Stargaze website in the New Year.
It is important to ignore the accommodation prices quoted on the "venue website" - participants will be pleasantly surprised when our prices are posted in the New Year:D.
Cheers Petra
Count me in as well Petra, i want one of these T Shirts.

Hi Geoff
This is excellent - looking forward to meeting you. We will have quite an array of telescopes on hand. Not sure if Anna and I will have the 20" built by then but will give it a good try. Keep an eye out for updates as we get closer.
Cheers Petra

Petra et al, we just had our monthly get-together in Bright, and I brought up the Stargaze with the members that were there. Wouldn't be surprised if we get at least 4-6 starters for the big event. Our group is growing though, so who knows? Tonight we had 7 scopes (inc 12" Lightbridge & 10" LX200R, unheard of aperture in the group just a few months ago!) + tripod-mounted binocs out at the Porepunkah Airfield (fabulous skies), and there were a few regulars who couldn't make it. Jennie our secretary wasn't there, but I'm sure she will be happy to circularise details about the Stargaze to the group. Look forward to more details -

It's looking great, Petra & crew. A very professionally run organisation team. I'm sure it'll be a huge success.

Hi Mike
Many thanks for the comments. We have drawn inspiration from many of the already established events, drawn a great deal of direction and inspiration from yours - plus added our own personal touches, it will be an exciting few days.
I personally am really looking forward to having some "hands on" experience with IIS camp. As for my fellow team members they are the seasoned Star Party experts and its their experience that will make it a great Border Stargaze event. Its all coming together.
Cheers Petra :)

I hope you spies (not very covert, mind you) got some great information for BSG2007 :)
Turns out I might repay the favour and do some spying of my own! :P I've almost convinced my wife that we should take a little trip down to Albury Wodonga in August! :) Maybe take an extra day on top and go and visit the snow fields! :)
So hopefully i'll be a starter for the event! Looking forward to it.

I will be there with my 10 yr old son Jake. Unfortunately due to double booking him on a Hawkesbury River holiday camp that clashed, he was unable to attend IISAC 2007 at Lostock. He had a ball at IISAC 2006 and recently up at Ilford. He continually reminds me every time I refer to the Pleiades (M45), as "the 7 sisters". Dad, "there are 8 of them not 7". Oh but for young eyes.
I will be taking the 18" Obsession and happy to run nightly sky tours as a representative of the Three Rivers Foundation, as we did at Lostock. www.3rf.org.

I would love to attend Petra, but I think it may be just a tad too far for me.
Lostock was 11 hours drive.
But hey, things may change.
Mike.

Hi Mike
It is a long drive, totally agree with you on that. Lostock was 9 hours for us. However, if things change we would love to see you there - you would be more than welcome.
Cheers Petra
