Esprit 80 ED, unmodded Canon 5d MkII @ ISO1000 (no filters even), unguided Vixen Sphinx mount and Bahtinov focused in Live View without my glasses (grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr). Light pollution extra-ordinaire...

1 shot

10 sec exposure

That is all. Enjoy the depth and off-focus :eyepop::rofl:

Near full frame (vignette removed) resized, and 100% cropped Jewel Box

Malin award winner right here folks ;)

There's a scene from "Flying High" where they show what to do: unplug the airport.

That cluster looks promising.

With guiding you might be able to get that all the way up to 12sec exposures
:P :D

You guys are all quackers.

OK, Andrew may be a Quaker

LewisM

MAYbe. Just maybe, but that is pushing the limits of this mount - you know all those anecdotal results for all those years about the Sphinx by exspurts are just all true ;)

hahaha, I loved TAA and that song, I remember watching it on TV.
We lived under the flightpath in an inner Sydney city suburb so I used to love watching the planes take off, TAA, Ansett, Qantas.
I even remember the Concord on it's Sydney visit.

 Macbeth.
Yes Lewis, one day you will be King...(of the Malin Awards)

So, you think I can de-throne Sidonio and Haese? :thanx:

RB

With the help of Lady MacLewis, but both of you will feel guilty afterwards.
What's done is done, but then what's done cannot be undone.

I think I might get a bolt to the heart on the "throne", just like poor old Tywin Lannister.

Here he lies
Down and dirty
A bolt to the heart
Did make him fart
As he face flopped in the potty

I am undecided to be semi-flattered or overwhelmingly grossly offended.

Probably neither.

LewisM

You thick or summink? Can't you see that Coal Sack dark matter off to the right of the noise?

Ok, to the right, amidst the noise.

Na Lewis not from you but IIS itself. I'm not a Chicken when it comes to saying anything, because i say it the way i see it and most people just don't get it.

Your image under the circumstance was fine, but it needs some work and I'm sure you will get there.

See I said it.:scared3:

Youve totally disrespected the noise and my artistic licence.

LewisM
10-06-2017, 01:04 PM
Do I really have to turn my serious side on?

My whole post (and previous Eta Carinae) was in jest...not even a skerick of serious intent. Some imagers need to lighten up sometimes and realise it's fun not a competition. These images were all a new scope, let's see if it has potential and to check for any of the aberrations that these variable quality Chinese scopes are renowned for. I am wrapt with this scooe, so testing aside it is onto real imaging from the dark hill near Yass. My CCD adaptor is here so all set to do it in earnest.

Did anyone even seriously believe I was happy with a 10 SECOND, SINGLE EXPOSURE??? :screwy::rofl::screwy::rofl:
