This looks surprisingly effective, well for those with a strong back and arms!

You could rig up a guiding system using parts from an electric fence :eyepop:

My mount will happily do 15°/second, enough for her tracking? ;)

Looks more like an RPG or javelin air to ground setup than a camera rig

Looks like a camera-equipped sack-truck...
Big deal?

So anyone standing near him as he pans rapidly gets a broadside to the head :screwy:

Its a relatively light weight trolley and the weight is directed through his shoulders. I imagine it would be a lot more comfortable than trying to fold the lens alone. Pretty good concept and I reckon there is a probably a market for a well designed unit. Maybe variable sized counterweights, hiking harness... Hmmm. Would be a good option for heavy bino's as well I suspect; more stable for sure.

This idea has been around for a while ( i remembered seeing it in an astro mag ages ago and a quick google found it )

I'm pretty sure the bungee cords holding the Bino's twanging off and impaling your eyeballs might present a small OH&S issue.

I could be mistaken though

That's about the last place I'd ever want to use a bungee. :eyepop:

Interesting... I've seen well-heeled bushwalking types with some sort of chest harness and bino's strapped with shock cords.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they lost an eye when the cords go "thwack" as they sometimes are wont to do.
