Revolution 2 Imager

Having considered the possible use of a camera to enhance outreach activities I purchased this week a Revolution 2 Imagaing kit.

I figured it was pretty low cost and by many accounts nearly idiot proof.

The kit arrived with everything needed to get started. This afternoon I set it up and was surprised at how easy it was.

Attached are a couple of iPhone pictures of the 7 inch monitor that comes in the kit.

The sun was shining and this was truly plug and play.

We will see how it goes over time and on other targets but I reckon it is pretty good value for the money and will accomplish what I want.

What connection to the monitor does it use, HDMI ???

They certainly seem a good complete kit.

I have a dso-1 and bought a monitor elsewhere.

What is the resolution of the monitor?

Thanks for your questions and interest. I am not certain I can answer them. I have not looked into the monitor resolution but the specification may be on their website.

I do not believe the connection is HDMI, I believe it is just regular digital plug.

I do not think it will necessarily be the best kit to create/share the highest quality images but for the cost, ease of use and outreach use, I have a good first impression.

I have had a lot of folks struggle to see things at the eyepiece during outreach sessions and am of the growing opinion that this gear will solve that problem.

Your camera looks like it'll be great for outreach !

I don't think there are any purpose built astro camera with video outputs that are HDMI. Most standard video astro cameras are PAL NTSC. For higher resolution most go to digital cameras.

I had an old 7" screen and found it worked no probs with the output from the Meade LS6" video out.
What you can also do, if the camera has a std composite video out is use a DVD to USB converter ( normally used to convert videos etc )
and stream the camera output to a high res laptop screen.
