This is another 19x300s shot with a borrowed Nikon D810 and the Sky Rover. I could have centred the two of them a lot better but I didn't pay any attention to framing, point at M20 and shoot, then crawl into bed :P
Sleep is more important on a work night ;)

After reading what Marc put up for Bayer Drizzling settings I think I'll go back and reintegrate both this and NGC 6334 when I get some time. Sounds like it could take a little while for my computer to work its way through the subs.

Hi Colin,
Shows the Trifid well and what's around the Trifid!
Nice.
Cheers,
Tim

Looking delightful Colin. Lovely textures and colours. Seeing the beast in context against the golden distant stars makes it seem much more real.

Oh to have a D810. Trish has a D750, and lusts after the 810. You're inspiring us to take heart and give this sort of wide field shot a go.

What a great shot of M8 and M20, Colin. I wouldn't worry about the framing because the image is still so wonderful and tack sharp. You have restored my faith in Nikon too....Wish they would come out with the successor to the 810 which is already a fine camera.

Well done!

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Tim, framing could have been a little better if I had have given it even the tiniest bit of consideration :P

Do it! The Nikon D810 is a good camera although as Richard mentions, the D820 may not be too far off. Has a better sensor with lower read noise. On the other hand, if you want to put it on a scope the QHY367 could be a good way to go for a cooled camera. Basically a cooled D810A.

Thanks Marc, your last shots of Rho have me wanting to mosaic that area good :P

Yeah, I think I might have to "borrow" it on a more permanent basis haha

Thanks Richard. I heard recently about the Nikon D820 and from what I can tell it looks like it has the sensor that is in the current Sony A7RII, the 47MP version. I suppose this would make sense, if Sony is upgrading that camera again they'll happily give Nikon the previous sensor version to their latest.

It is the sugar spaws that make it decadent Lewis; look at all that blue bloat around M20!!

It may be a bit blue, my laptop is probably not even remotely colour calibrated :P I am pretty sure the last thing I did was remove green noise from the background so that may very well have changed the balance again.
