JUst a warning on an Ebay scam that will interest everyone here who likes big refractors....
There is a guy on Ebay that has been listing a big 180mm AstroPhysics refractor complete with its companion mount and a couple of bonuses, a STV Sbig etc...

Be warned this is a scam...............

He will encourage you to Email him for a "buy now" price $2000....Ha , and then tell you he is away and has to do the whole deal via the net...
No pickup allowed.....just put the money into his account and he will send the system to you free of charge....
Ebay has tossed him off, but trust me....he will be back, and the old rule "if it sounds to good to be true....it is" aplies here to the max.

Cheers

Yeah saw that one, it's typical of the scammers, always the same pattern.

I like to string them along and have some fun.;) My favourite is to ask them to send it to an independent third party (my mate) and upon inspection they will be forward the money :innocent:. No takers as yet :evil2:

It's good fun to give them back there own medicine.

Someone tried the exact same scam with me. But with canon DSLR. $400 into his account in Italy and he'd send it right out to me. I suggested we use 3rd party as well and I never heard from him again. It baffles me how someone can have the audacity to try something like this.

Overall - I think that you just need to be carefull, regardless of where you buy be it online or otherwise. There is always that element of risk. I am not 100% sure as to how genuine ebays protection policies are. Have yet to test the system.
