View Full Version here: : Can you name the crater
I was playing with my 10 inch lx200 last night and got a cracking photo of a moon crater just not sure of it's name, can you help?

Looks like Copernicus to me.
Thanks Michael, I couldn't find it on my moon map.

Looks back to front. Reverse the image then compare against a map. You will find it is Copernicus.
Did you have your star diagonal in place during imaging? Just count the mirror reflections in the imaging train; odd = reversed, even = non-reversed. SCT with star diagonal has three and without star diagonal has two.
Whether it's upside down or not is irrelevant, just turn the map around.
I see some very spectacular planetary images and image processing but the simplest of all is often omitted and that is to reverse the reversal.
Great image by the way. Well done!
Hi Astro744
I just put the camera (Prostar LP Guide) straight into the visual back, I see what you mean by it been back to front' Thanks for the tips Cheers John

Ok. Now I'm stumped. Visual back only means you had primary and secondary mirrors so that is two reflections. Not sure where the image was reversed but it definitely looks that way. I compared it the the 'Atlas of the Moon' by Antonin Rukl.
