View Full Version here: : f3.3 focal reducer?? for an lx90??
I'd be interested to know from other SCT users if the meade f3.3 focal reducer will work with a DSLR like the 350D.If so how much addition:shrug: al depth does it take up when connected to the visual back of the telescope. i have an lx90 and space is tight as the camera swings to the mid position in the forks.so could such a focal reducer be used in my setup.I do have an ultra low profile 'c' thread to 'T' thread adapter i can use.

In simple terms "Forget It".
The f3.3 reducer was really made at a time where ccd sizes where all very small in size, and this helped get more image in the limited sensor size. but as time went on, the sensors got bigger and bigger. With the size of the APS sensor in your canon, the image will be really great for about the first 8 to 10mm (Max) diameter, then everything else looks like stars moving at Hyperdrive speed.
You will get so much distortion, its not worth it. Your better off to look at the f6.3 reducer. You will get some minor vignetting but still acceptable.
thanks for the info i suspected as much.

Like gama said all you will see is a tiny circle in the middle the rest is so distorted you cant make anything out.
