The topic this month is: "fun"

This thread is only for posting your entry along with any comments you'd like to make about your own photo.
If you would like to comment on other entries, or have any "other" shots, then please use the Comments and Rejects Thread -> HERE (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=156466).

I found it surprisingly difficult to either select or set up a shot to represent “Fun”. I have any number that would serve to indicate pleasure, satisfaction, enjoyment, etc but “fun” seems to suggest something a little more exuberant. Such as shots showing laughter. And when there’s fun and laughter around here I’m not likely to be behind a camera. And it’s not something that’s easy to pose either.

I’ve got some good pictures of friends racing dirt karts who are having a bucket load of fun, but when faces are hidden behind dirt encrusted helmets the shots could represent anything from fun to tension or aggression.

I can't take a picture of myself riding a motorbike or strumming guitar, and jokey pics involving whisky could be tacky... So I’ve taken a leaf from Al’s book (his splendid picture of the dogs on the beach) and picked something from the animal world.

We have a lot of resident creatures on our bush block and the galahs and the magpies in particular seem to enjoy startling the bandicoots when they’re foraging in the same areas. The bandicoots always react in a satisfying way by leaping in the air and then and running away. This galah appears to be enjoying the joke. (No Photoshopping involved - they’re great little jumpers).

Lots of fun at Hunter Valley Gardens "Mad Hatters Tea Party" theme garden, my mum was visiting us so a trip to the gardens sounded like the fun thing to do, they say when we get together they need to take us everywhere twice, the second time to apologize.

After a fun night at an astrophotography star trail event at Ellalong that was held by the Maitland camera club.
I spotted the Moon rising over and thought Id try and capture the moment. This image was taken with my Canon1100D just leaning out the car window after I pulled over to the kerb. I'm not the best photographer, I try though....

Oooh this looks like so much fun, I've never entered these photo challenges before, so here goes my first attempt!

I'm an aviation enthusiast so my photography mainly centres around that and astronomy. I love action/sports/anything that moves fast that makes me chase it and sweat . So I was scratching my head thinking  hmmm what "fun" aeroplane pics do I have... and it turns out that I have several so this was a hard choice to make . This pic was taken May last year- I hope that still counts for May this year and also that, this fits into the category for "fun" - was lots of fun for me - and the Crow :P - seeing this shot unfold.

DETAILS:

THE BLACK CROW WITH A KILL ESCORTS THE BEAST.

Iron Maiden began its Australian tour in Brisbane in true heavy metal style.
The flight number is ABD666 and with the beast's number being 666, with a Crow guiding it, it nearly had me looking over my shoulder for Damian :prey::face::lol:.

I'm not sure how much you can zoom in on this pic but there is a kill dangling from the Crow's beak if you look closely. Easy enough to see when pic is full screen.

"Fun" climbing back down Uluru.
From our Red Centre trip early this month.
Although discouraged, tourists can still climb Uluru (Ayers Rock). [We did not.]

There is a safety chain as such, but it does not start from the base of the rock.
The installer's theory being if you can't make it up this far by yourself, you don't deserve to climb.
The section from the base to the start of the chain is dubbed "Chicken Rock".

Here a couple of fun loving climbers are having "fun" surveying the daunting drop from the end of the chain to the desert floor below.
Seems it is always easier to climb up than down for most people.

Haven't had any time this month to get behind the camera, but thought I'd add this pic from Christmas. The wife and I have some serious fun coming up with new predicaments to get the Elf into.
This time we got into our collection of Rocky action figures and created a fight scene for the kids to wake up to :)
