Gday a M42 pic with the ED80/D70 combo and a wider one of the Orion constellation {damn didn't frame Betelguese well :P }.Tried some diffraction spikes in PS for some effect, dont know if its overpowering or not :confuse3:

Wow Stuart, they're great! Both nice black skies.

Love the widefield and the closeup.

The diffraction spikes aren't overpowering, however I don't think they look as good as "naturally" produced ones via a spider vein or fishing line.

Great images.

Great images Stuart, nice details and colours. I dont think the spikes are overpowering at all.

I dont mind those defraction spikes atleast there not over powering like the ones I put on my helix image.

just tried to view exif data on the image and there is none... what were your settings? :)

Nice one Stuart, cant get enough of that one, but i dont think i'll be seeing it for a while, to much smoke, can hardly see the back door

PSS: Ving tried a number of exposure times ranging from 60-140s to try some mask processing in PS SC2 to stop the core of M42 getting blown out , real juggling act :doh:
