This image is reprocessed data shot in May last year. Conditions were quite good - SQL 21.3; seeing ~2.5".
Total 3hr exposure: 1hr L; 40min each RGB. The field of view of this crop is approx 34' X 26'
ASA10N at f/3.6; Moravian G2-8300; DDM85A mount.

Quite interesting Mark, it is what I would imagine NGC 253 would look like through oodles of dust.

Colin, it is a VERY dusty galaxy. According to Wikipaedia, X-ray imaging shows a bright centre characteristic of Seyfert galaxies, but it barely shows up at all in the visible spectrum.....

That's a good image of this galaxy. Its not a particularly aesthetic galaxy with all its dust but you got some nice Ha areas showing through there.

It isn't pretty, but very interesting.
It is apparently classified as a barred spiral, though I don't know how that is determined!
