Hi,
Does anyone know of a good dark sky site near Musswellbrook? I was thinking of Glenbawn Dam, but apperently the property there has been closed off with no entry and private property signs.
TIA

I have spent time camping at Glenbawn Dam, and it can be pretty dark there but it has a light dome down towards the power plants and your town, it also is surrounded by hills that restrict lower elevation objects. Flat space, above the lake itself is hard to find in the camping areas. If you go right down the back, past the kiosk (not the main entry one), there is a flat section overlooking the lake. Be aware it is very popular with the ski boat folks and during school holidays you want to stay away. I don't know about it being locked off, unless some big ski club has hired the whole place during the holidays. Ring the main kiosk ir check online. There is a private residential section near the main gate but the camping section is around the other side of the lake. There is always Bretti, past Gloucester, nice free camp, big, very dark site, but also subject to school holiday crowds.
