Folks,
What a difference a day makes! Not only was Jupiter putting a different face forward from the previous night, but the seeing seems to have improved too (or I did something wrong in processing!).
Same kit: Edge 11, TV Powermate 2.5x, ZWO ASI224MC
Cheers,
Dunk

Beautiful shot. Can you break down the processing for me. How many frames, Registax or Autostakkert, any post processing etc

Thanks Chris, Leigh! It's all about the conditions, I was just lucky with two decent nights :D
Before I get going, I go for a mag 2 or so star to check collimation and this also gives an indication as to the conditions. Ideally we want a perfectly steady star but that must be very rare! Also verify you've got good focus. These two are key to getting a good capture. Well, that and the sky!
My basic processing workflow is:
- stack in AS!3. Small chunks, about 30seconds worth each
- WinJupos derotation with results from stacking (aim for a handful)
- sharpening in tool of choice (I tend to overdo it!)
- usually a splash of extra colour (I find the 224 a bit anemic)
This image was composed of 12 captures of 3000 frames (at 100fps) each, ~about 1000 frames from each stacked, then derotated before a little sharpening and a boost to the saturation.

Thanks Bo, Ørnulf and Brett! I've noticed that it looks better scaled down to about 3/4 size, it loses the graininess a bit :D

Nice image, maybe a little over sharpened but still nice data. I think it would be good to up the resample and make it bigger. This is clearly nice data and it deserves a bigger look.

Thanks Paul, indeed I try to find the balance between detail and noise, but often overshoot!
Will give it a shot with the drizzle and see how it comes out...thanks for the tip.

Here's a drizzled version from the same data set...
Maybe it's my dodgy processing, or maybe I had coincidentally hit the limits of the seeing, or maybe my scope has nothing more to give

Really great Dunk, that's a beauty. And thanks for the tips/info on processing - I need to crack the whole Winjupos thing :D

Thanks Andy! I certainly can't claim to have mastered WJ, but getting to grips with it...maybe ;)

Certainly an awesome Jupiter you have there Dunk, , Well done :einstein:
Im finding this side is pretty much the only side there is :P and apparently there a big storm on the Dark-side-of-the-moon aswell ;) I live to see them both one night
Great Imaging & processing - It also looks good @ 125 -150 %

Thanks Bob!
Yeah that side is still pretty interesting, but on a good night I want swirls and spots and...and...who knows?
I'd actually captured some data the night prior to this, with the GRS in shot, so when I get the time I'll go back and trawl through that again.
