I took this widefield a couple of weeks ago from suburban Melbourne. Using the Esprit 100 straight through the scope to the Canon 550d without any filters, the seeing and transparency were pretty good, which helped achieve a reaonable result. 22 x 1min subs unguided on a HEQ5.

Well done Mick,
It's a fairly faint object so quite difficult to get the details of the gas and dust lanes. Nice to see you got the background galaxies too.
We must have taken it around the same time (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=155493).

Thanks Bo, not as spectacular as some galaxies but a good one to hunt down. How did yours turn out?

You really know how to push your scope to its limits Michael. Another great wide field you've taken and Bo's isn't bad either. ;)

It really defines the meaning of 'Lost in Space'
What constellation is this in?

It's in the constellation Centaurus.
I hope you don't mind me using your pic Michael to illustrate this?

That's fine, if I wanted to protect my images I wouldn't post them on the internet for the world to access them. Once they go up on this forum, they're anybodies!
