Evening all.

For those of you following the remote imaging/telescope hosting thread I commenced a few weeks ago, you will note that one of the systems I am offering as a rental is the fabulous AP RH305 (you have no doubt seen Peter Ward's and Greg Bradley's images) with an SBIG STXL 16200 coupled to an OPTEC Gemini Rotating Focuser (image scale: 1.07 asp).

I have been commissioning this system for the past couple of weeks and here is the first image off this system:

L(Syn)RGB 30 minutes each filter.

thanks for checking it out.

Starting to think Roland makes better mirrors than lenses (which, considering his lenses, is high praise!) :) :P

Lovely result Martin and great to see you posting back here too.

Nice image Martin. Great colour and resolution. Did you see any IFN in your subs? I remember seeing some images a year or so ago that showed it in the nearby field.

Jeez that's sharp. Beaut colours. Just an all-round nice image of OCent.

Thanks again. Paul my subs were 10mins, RGB, probably not long enough to pick up any IFN. Perhaps I will take a 30min lum and see what pops up.

Cheers

A great first light Martin and welcome back.

30 minute exposures at F3.8 will overwhelm the full wells for sure and burn out the core and lose colour but you never know. The 16803 may have a slight chance the 16200 almost for sure not. F3.8 is a different task master to slower Fratios.

The 16200 is a perfect match to the Honders in my opinion. I love mine.
Its also a great FOV for most objects but the 16803 is better occasionally for some broad objects.

Greg.

Thank you gents.

Marcus - I understand you have an OS RiDK? So you must be very frustrated with the weather.

Martin

Pro RC360 - sitall mirrors - a great scope! Yep, extremely frustrated with the weather AND my STXL 11002! At least the timeout errors may now be fixed (with the new driver) but I haven't had any significant imaging time to really give it a workout. Moisture ingress issue still pending .
