Wow. That's an impressive amount of aperture and add-ons for a thousand bucks!

If it's genuine, and there's every reason to believe it is, it's a really good offer

Do the buy and sell crew on e bay get into astronomy gear much ?
Would be a real shame if some idiot payed a packet for it just to try and resell, would be kinda funny when they went to pick it up though
I believe thats around 170 pounds sitting there .

good luck with your bidding

I haven't seen or heard of a Meade like this one before but i learn something new about this hobby each week or so. Maybe i should go for a drive and check it out. Not knowing to much about this type of scope, i would have to say that this is a bargain.

You havent heard of that scope range after more than 1000 posts?
All the more power to you toetoe.

things like this taunt and tease one so much, I cant bear it anymore. Aperture is King......

Yes, it is a genuine ad. The owner sent an email to the SVAA offering it for sale to any interested members, and mentions he has also submitted it on ebay.

In the email he has supplied his full name, address, Phone number and names the Astro society he is a member of in Melbourne. But it is not my place to make it public in here. If he wanted it made public, he would place it himself.

Looks like a bargain until the bidding starts!

I would want to inspect and view through it first.
While I have heard some of those Meade mirrors were great, others were also dogs.

Yes , I'd concur about view through these before buy. I've refigured a couple of such mirrors that I rated as useful at low power only.

would it be worth buying to rebuild in a truss scope Mark, and if crook optics get them refigured and coated, or just go with the new meade lightbridges?
