First light TS102 - Carina

Hi there all.

First light for my new purchase TS102 f7 with a 0.8 reducer/flattener.

ASI 1600mm cooled to -10 at HDR gain setting.

3 x 10 minute red subs. Just a test really but I am very happy with the results. Sharpening and contrast in Astraimage PS plugin.

C&C welcomed of course.

From the attached image I can see perfectly round and tight stars all the way to the corners :thumbsup:

It often takes a lot of time and patience to get to that stage where one can relax, forget about constant tweaking and just let quality data flow in...weather permitting of course :)

Really happy for you Scott and I look forward to seeing lots of new images taken with your new rig.

Mike and Suavi, thanks very much. Imaging rather than fighting with gear is a rare thing for me. So I am going to make the most of this.
Hmmmmm, I can sense a mosaic coming on!

The only thing I'd change is shortening the exposures.

I really like that wide FOV you are getting with your camera and this telescope Scott. In spite of wide field, you are still imaging at nice 1.38 app with the reducer. Can probably successfully chase galaxies either without the reducer at 1.1 app, or drizzle data with the reducer to about 0.7 app.

So the core's not blown I'm going to do a series of shorter subs around 10 seconds. I'm assuming that's what you're talking about? :thumbsup:

So do I. Might have a go at galaxies one day. Want to master nebulae, especially dark stuff first!

Nice image - looks like you have a very good system there. yeah, the brighter bits look a bit saturated, but as Colin says, shorter exposures should fix that.

Thanks Ray. I kinda like it. The auto focus routine with sgp works flawlessly, straight imaging train, minimal if any flexure with the guide scope. Happy days! Now in the hands of the earth's climate
