I wired everything in through my EQ6 mount.

After trying to reduce the effects of dragging the cables, i decided to give it a go and feed them inside the mount, i got rid of the polarscope and also won't hide the counterweight bar, but the mount now moves freely........

Also decided to move the controller out the mount, so i can have no wires around..... extended the stepper wires and installed the controller on my Lowtech Astro control box !!!!!

Certainly innovative, congratulations. Practicality would worry me. The NEQ6 does not have limit sensors or hard stops. Internal wiring is probably dangerous for any remote operated EQ6.

A great job indeed :thumbsup: and I can see your reasoning :), however sometimes all the cables bunched together through a metal opening can sometimes produce electrical interference when tracking for Astrophotography.

I always mitigated cable drag from the camera and guidescope by running them up to the centre of gravity (between the rings) and securing with a velcro strap there, then running down the mount following cable guides (that do NOT touch the cable, rather guiding it instead) and then down again to the centre securing bolt of the head/tripod (I use 10mm stainless eyelet bolts instead of the factory securing bolt) and then out to the individual item - PC, hand controller, whatever. The slack of the cable goes on the tripod tray, and since it is not "hard" secured on the scope or mount, the slack can be taken up/lessened by itself.
