You should be able to select something from the tank and have it cooked and served.

Only naughty fish goes into the fryer.
I keep an aquarium. I eat fish, but only fish who misbehave.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

So the chips get lonely in their freezer bag?

And how, exactly, have they expressed this opinion???

They reckon it ' stresses ' the fish out in the Tanks ....
Also ... they don't like their ' next of kin ' being fried in hot oil.
Animal Liberation at it again :screwy:

General irritability, disturbed sleep, excess consumption of alcohol, tendency to snap, floating upside down, punching the tank walls, making faces at the kids, throwing poop at visitors - all the usual symptoms.

At the risk of creating the future one could ask is it ethical to keep all these fish in captivity.

I accuse you of not taking the rights of fish to be free seriously.:D
They should all be put down to relieve their suffering.

And then battered, deep-fried, and served up with some nice crispy chips and a dollop of tartare sauce!

I am going up to the village for lunch and order all that.
I find it difficult to find battered fish these days but the local fish shop does it very well.
I think the public went against battered fish because it was viewed as unhealthy... fatty and all that... So I feel guilty maybe I should go a big mac and fries.

Gday Alex
You should subcontract your mind to PETA
They ( to get an advertising lift i think ) want Hunters and Collectors to change their name because it promotes hunting????
The only hunting would be to find out where they were playing :-)
( and if they sell fish and chips at the gigs??

I had not heard of PETA until your post caused me to look it up.
I have probably seen news clips about theiractivities but did not take in their name.
I thought hunters and collectors was referencing. finding strange things like pickers going thru barns.
Saw their photo and they look like they have been collecting birthdays.
I think I look younger than all of them put together.
Some actions by folk like those involved in PETA present as stupid but often appearing to be stupid or outrageous attracts publicity.
And although Hunters and Collectors got a little mileage out of this story so did PETA which in my view is good. And folk will be thinking now about the issue. Some will say itsnonsence some will go over the top but hopefully folk will think a little more about lives of others. It all comes down to not being selfish really. .. Thinking about a small creature and its right to life may promote thinking about how unnecessary it is to waste so much energy and resources upon waging war.
I am all for promoting compassion as there is so many terrible things need to be fixed.. If humans could be kinder both to animals and each other it would be a wonderful step forward.
However if you follow the money we will probably find the decision to remove fish from the menu turns on profit or lack of it in selling fish.

PETA has tried to get people to call fish "Sea Kittens" so we'll all feel guilty about eating 'em.
Uh huh.
"Ooo Sebastian, how can you possibly eat that delightful Monkseakitten!?" "Sorry Persephone. I wasn't thinking. I'll have some of your delicious Kale and Tofu salad instead."
Hey Peter,
Welcome back to the forum once again :)

I just played the radio interview with PETA when the lady spoke about increasing awareness and sensitivity to animal issues etc by banning fish at Sea World and others. There was a classic line I picked up from it - the sale of fish was likened to selling "monkey nuggets at the zoo". Gawd! Monkey Nuggets! When was the last time I tried those delicacies. I remember well the days of youth when we were taken out on the weekend for monkey nuggets and chips at the beach. Ahh nostalgia! Monkeyt Nuggets!!! The mind boggles.
