Looks nice Darren, is it only 320x240 res?

The cam is tiny!

Yep it is only 320x240 res as that is all the captur software lets me do as soon as I go up in res it captures double images in the video file. :screwy:

The cam weighs 20 grams

You could have lots of fun with that.
I'd like to see what it can do with Saturn.

Hi David.
Tried it last night and just couldn't focus right.
Have to shorten the tube a little.
Focussing on a star looked very promising ,so it looks like it will be sensitive enough.
Will try again tonight.

I am going to capture with the WinFast VC100 XP card in real time.
So it will be an mpeg1 or mpeg2 file.
After that i can look for the best frames and stack them with registax.
Still waiting for the card to arrive so tonight i will take a pic from the tv image with my digital cam.
Darren how are you going with your cam? looking forward to see more pics.

All imaging has been put on hold till I finish doing my EQ mount so there will be no more images from me till middle of next year now.

First pic is done with a cheap cam taken infront of the tv.
Second pic is the sensor in a 2" mounting.
Third pic is the camera on the dob.
I'll try to take more pics tonight.

Looks like i have to wait for the capture card.
Taking pictures from the tv makes it really bad.

Looks promising to me.

The exposure time was 10 seconds and it was at prime focus.
Very hard to track with a dob.

Ooooo! That looks good. In that case, I'm going to have fun in a few weeks. I've set aside a week of holidays to try my first real (?) astrophotography. I have a little Meade telescope mount, driven on the RA axis (thanks Ken!). I've made up a mount (is that a wedge??) with the correct declination (?) for the SCP. I only have film camera so I was wondering how to ensure I'm SCP aligned? Put my binoculars on the mount and watch for drift?? Nope! So I bought a little webcam. Looked for a CCD version. Picked up the Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 for under $100. I'll just set that up and monitor on laptop screen while it tracks, using its 3x optical zoom to help with sensitivity to drift - I reckon that should allow me to get reasonable alignment - if I've understood all the drift alignment instructions (for dummies) that have been posted recently.

But I'm very tempted to capture some wide field shots with the webcam and also poke it at the eyepieces of my binoculars and telescope and see what I capture.

Please excuse the above if I don't know much of what I'm talking about - but I'll have fun learning! :screwy:
