Not a pretty sight! But unusual...
Of course the galaxy is about 100Mly distant, and the cometary is 1300ly.
This image awaits more data, as it is surprisingly faint. The cloud barely showed up on the colour subs.
Shot under fair conditions - windy, SQL 20.9, seeing 3".
ASA10N at f/6.8; Moravian G3-16200; Astrodon filters; ASA mount.
4 hours total exposure, L,R,G,B 1 hr each all binned x2. Plate scale 1.4"/px. FOV approx 40' x 32'

Good start Mark! It's a cool target.
It's also very, very dim- I threw 3 hrs LRGB from a tassie dark site & 8hrs Ha at it when I attempted it last year and it still needed more after that.
I look forward to your finished project

Looking good Markas  such a cool target this one that galaxy makes it, but yep, it's certainly on the fainter side :)

M&T, Mike, Peter, Andy,
Thanks for the encouragement. I think the best line to take from here will be to go after lots more L as first priority.
Andy, I'm interested in your going after Ha. Was it rewarding at all?

Hi Mark the link to my image is HERE (http://www.astrobin.com/full/235840/0/)
Up to you to decide on adding Ha but I think it adds some depth to the image.
This is on my list to reprocess and gather yet more LRGB as well, but not this year! :)
Cheers

Greg and Rick,
Thanks for the comments.
My attempt to get more data Thursday and Friday nights was ruined by some very cranky weather - haze, fog, drizzle, high winds, and what seemed to be widespread dust..... so I hope late March is better. Otherwise it's going to be a long!

Thanks Rodney. These CGs - apart from CG12, which is easy, are quite a challenge.
