Hi All,

I have just purchased a Canon 6D to do some TPOINT runs with TSX.

Being completely new to anything Astrophotography I have run into a stumbling block  which I am sure that some have already solved or know the answer.

I originally thought that TSX (Mac Version) would connect to the Canon 6D via Wireless .....In my initial testing it seems that even though EOS Utility and my Laptop can see the 6D through wireless TSX does not (Maybe someone can confirm??? )

So back to my original question how are people cabling their Sensor/DSLR setups back to their laptops..........considering that a GEM mounted OTA points in all different directions/orientations???? :confused2:

Last thing I want is all my gear on the Obsy floor :scared:

Thanks !!

Cannot speak about TSX, but when I was using my Canon 760D, was able to use wirelessly with Canon utilities on my laptop and ipad, but Backyard EOS could not see it. Guylian confirmed he could do it but was a lot of work so would only add the capability if demand warranted. I would guess the same issue applies here for Bisque.

What I have done is to tether the cable to the scope using sticky clips, so the cable runs along the scope to the centre of rotation, then down the mount axis to a mini USB hub.

Wireless just drains the battery faster

Thanks for the comments :-)

Yes looks like it may have to be a cable management solution.....been testing out the inbuilt wifi in the 6d ....it works well but drains the battery quickly when activated for long periods grrrr

What he said, centralise the cable run to the mount axis and leave some slack. Doesn't look pretty but it's reliable. My PC is close to the mount, no hub involved, just a longer high qual USB cable.

This is my cabling. I am crouching where my laptop goes.
All cables run through a zip tie on the ADM plate, down through the triplod leg and into a Powered USB Hub and then into the laptop.

Thanks Colin

Cables ...Cables....Cables ......arrgggg

I'll probably mount a Laptop Tray on the back of the pier....with a cable running up the centre and along the bottom of the rings to the back of the OTA......
