I should really start doing longer integrations again, but between equipment issues, getting clouded out on supposedly clear nights and my impatience, it's a struggle.

This is NGC 1808, only 2.4hrs of data, more than half of which was RGB (the remainder being L). I have a larger FOV which includes NGC 1792 but it doesn't really do justice to NGC 1808.

A larger version is available on Astrobin (http://www.astrobin.com/285117).

For what is a short integration, it's still really nice Lee :)

Hi, Lee,

The link to the big one isn't working, but from what we can see of the thumbnail, it is a jewel. An iridescent opal perhaps.

Eagerly awaiting the big image.

Very nice, Lee! Would be good to go deeper and bring out more of the faint halo.

Here's a working Astrobin link: http://www.astrobin.com/285117/?nc=user

Cool galaxy and looking very colourful Lee, I like it. Those dust spikes rising out of the core region, a little reminiscent of M87, are what make this galaxy intriguing :)

Thanks Colin :-)

Thanks Mike :-) I've corrected the link now, sorry about that. It definitely looks better in the smaller version so I wouldn't be too eager ;-)

Thanks Rick! Would definitely be good to go deeper, might help clean up some of that dust as well. I may yet add more data, see how I go.

Cheers Mike.. I did go fairly heavy with the colour; I was inspired by Warren Keller's very vibrant rendition of this. The dust rising out of the core is very cool indeed.

I've attached a larger FOV which includes 1792, which is believed to be interacting with 1808.

The high-res still looks lovely. Beautiful colours, and surprisingly deep halo.

All good Mike, no offense taken or anything--I *did* push the colour too hard for the data though, had to do some colour noise fiddling after I was done pushing that vibrance/saturation, so I think some criticism would be fair. I'm always happy to receive criticism on my stuff anyway, helps me get better :-)

Thanks mate - it's pretty noisy still, nothing more data and a 16" scope wouldn't fix though ;-)

naah, your scope is just fine. if you can get that sort of depth and rich colour from 2.4 hours, you are doing very well.

Cheers Ray :-) Have to say I am pretty happy with the Esprit.

Very nice Lee i like the vibrancy of the galaxy and the well balanced dark background lots of little distant fuzzies in there too.

Thanks Dunk :-)

Thanks Michael :-) I think the background's a bit dark in retrospect, but eh, nothing's ever perfect.
