From a "truly dark" site he should have been able to capture Barnards Loop. That the last shot doesn't suggests what the yanks think of as dark, isn't.

Yeah,
I can bag Barnards loop pretty easy from here. If you look at the asterism in the top shot on his page, you can pick it out very faintly. When I lived in the high desert in Nevada a long time ago, it was pretty dark but Vegas stuffed about a third of the sky. Can only imagine what a horror show it is now. We are truly blessed but its going fast from many places.
