Hi guys,

I am selling by Cold Finger cooled and IR Spectrum Modified Canon 400D camera which has produced some very fine images but as I have switched to mono is getting no use at all.

The camera can get down to -20/-25 below ambient and also has a heater element which can be turned on in heavy dewing conditions to avoid the CCD frosting over. The mod was done professionally by Luis Campos. The IR enhancing filter is a Baader ACF filter

The camera comes complete and is ready to use with all accessories and includes:

- Separate regulated 12A power supply for the cooler
- Power supply for the camera so no batteries need to be used
- A DSUSB Shoestring shutter control unit
- Long USB camera cable
- Temperature set and monitoring unit
- Aluminium case with foam
- 4 camera batteries
- Cigarette jack (removed) which can be used for power as an alternative to 240v

Don't be fooled by the fact that the camera model is several years old. This camera will take amazing images for you for a DSLR and with suck nebulosity from the sky like a camera worth 2-3 times as much.

Some images taken with the camera:

Hi John
New to this forum and to astrophotography. Very keen to get started and you were recommended by an ASV member by the name of Andy Campbell whom i believe you know. Is the camera software still supported and will it work on a new install on my Windows 7 computer? If so, i am very interested in proceeding with a purchase. I'm in Olinda but happy to pop over to pick up.
Cheers

Hi Steve,

With cameras like this the software of choice is BackyardEOS which is $35USD. No issues with Windows 7 - see link below.

It will make focusing and acquisition as well as taking darks and flats extremely easy.

I will contact you on your mobile and we can arrange to catch up and organise.

BYE is great even if you don't mod the camera, I taught myself to use it in a few hours. It's worth the extra to go the Pro version. But you can try the software free :D

Wish I could afford this modded unit

You can also use APT (AstroPhotography Tools). There is free version which has more than enough functionality.
