The sun in Brisbane this morning (30/11)

Did any other Brisbanites see the sun this morning? There was just enough cloud/haze to block most of the sunlight, but not all of it. The sun was a gorgeous deep orange orb hanging there in the sky.

I had just set out for work and I spotted it. I thought "That is definately worth turning back home for to take a picture. I did a U-turn and was on my way back when I remembered that we have just moved house and I didn't know what box the camera was packed in. So I had a little :sad: and carried on to work hoping someone else would take a photo of it.

As I am looking out of the window at work now, the surroundings have a faint eerie orange tint. It's as though we are living on Mars.

The Sun did not manage to break through in our suburb, but the eerie orange/yellow cast is still quite strong and does not look like abating soon. Your description of it appearing like some Martian atmospheric phenomenon is quite apt. Looks almost like an "end of the world" scene from a disaster movie.

The sunsets have been blowing me away. With so much smoke in the air.
A blood red sun bathing the trees in an orange glow.
Very alien, very beautiful.

I hear it looks like a star only a lot bigger. Rumour also has it that it revolves around the earth once every 24 hours or so. :P

Speaking of the Sun, I've often wondered what is inside. Looking closely at a sunspot, I think I can make out a building with a window and 'the man in the sun 'looking out':scared: Can anyone else see it? The same article is in the Syney Mornin herald site, but no one lokking back.
