Hey Guys,

I chanced upon this great little grab and go. Harks back to the early 80's and I think it is made by Kasai trading in Japan since it has a K watermark. Nice "Celestron" orange and looks very very similar to my firstscope, my Celestron Cometron 40 (down to the focuser). 60mm focal length 415mm fully coated achromatic objective (yup checked it out and surprisingly there is no chromatic abberation and this one has the full 60mm of aperture, no stoppering down like the other scope I got recently...but it has 1 internal baffle right in the middle of the OTA), bakelit tube, nice eye relieve 6x25mm finder (no stoppering down as well although the finder has some false color), 2x barlow (looks to be coated) and a H8mm eyepiece for 52x and 103x (all 0.965" and Japanese made). Comes on a dinky alt az mount although it works well for the scope as it is very light. Looking at getting $70AUD (this includes postage Australia wide).

Let me know what you think....

Darren, how readily available are 0.925" - 1.25" adapters. I'm thinking it would make a great little guidescope.

Paul this lil un is definately a keeper. The reason I am selling it is because I need to fund my obsession for testing small scopes ;) Currently eyeing a Vixen on the NZ auction site. I have seen 0.965"-1.25" metal adapters from Orion (USA) and there is another company on Astromart selling them. The other adapters I have seen are cheap plastic ones that are just downright nasty. Btw didn't you already have a 60mm ST guidescope?

Darren

p/s: the scope is a killer on the moon and stars. I cannot detect any chromatic abberation in comparison to my Orion 80ST (full of yellow haaha).

Darren if I hadn't just bought a DMK camera and a 10:1 WO focuser for the orion, I'd jump on it. If it's still here after xmas I'll definately grab it. You can never have too many good quality guide scopes

Haaha. I just love small Japanese made refractors :) They views may not rival my 10" dob (or my 20x80LW's) but there is something magical about them that I just cannot describe.

This little refractor will be nice on top of the 10" dob just for now, plan is to remove the little finderscope and use the 60mm and Telrad.
Thanks for the propmpt replies Darren, payment is on its way early tomorow morning.
