I can't remember if I've ever introduced myself. I've been a member for about 3 years (but reading the forum for many more years) and I had good intentions when I joined this forum. I had an 8 inch Dob (GSM) at that time and I started enjoying my hobby again, which I've rediscovered (I was more active in my teenage years, but then...you know). Anyway, shortly after joining this forum I started having troubles with my vision (of course absolutely unrelated ;-) and it was discovered that I had a very rare eye condition in both eyes which destroys parts of my cornea. At the moment I'm pretty much blind on the left eye, my right eye is also affected but treatment I receive keeps that eye stable and slowing down the progress of destruction. My Dob sat there in those years, the mirror starting getting cloudy so I had to bin it recently :-(. Of course I won't be able to do any optical observations anymore anyway, so I will sell some of the stuff I'm still having in the classifieds (if that's ok). Thanks all and enjoy your hobby, it's a great one and I hope my little daughter will also discover it one day... I'll keep trying...

I'm so sorry to hear that Tom. My thoughts are with you. Hang in there.

That's tough mate, but I'm certain your interest will be translated to your daughter and she may enjoy astronomy as you have and still will.
Good wishes,
Anth

Not sure if it's worth mentioning video astronomy Tom?

Something you may be able to enjoy with your daughter.

+1. There's a few visually impaired people doing video astronomy. They are lurking here

And elsewhere
