I know the best viewing nights are immediately around the new moon (unless you want to look at the moon  ). But during the rest of the month there would be good dark viewing times when the moon has not yet risen, or has set.
Is there a method/program/calendar that can tell you moon rise and moon set for days or weeks ahead?
Thanks
PS I have Starry Nights Enthusiast 4.5, but haven't had much chance to learn how to use it yet.

Hi John.
Have you had a look at the moonphase (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/?moonphase) page on the left?
It has personalised (based on your lat/long in your profile (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/profile.php?do=editprofile)) moon (and sun) rise and set times for the next week.
In the next month or two, we'll be launching even better astronomy-data features, so stay tuned!

If you want a go anywhere solution the Astronomy 2007 publication is the way to go. I would even go as far as to say it is an essential item for just about any astronomer.

Have a look at NightCal (http://www.nightcal.co.uk/), it gives you a monthly calendar of moon phases, rise and set times and conjunctions.
Great value for a free download.
Cheers

Yep, needs no power, never goes down, don't need to log in....paper is such a wonderful invention! And yes, it does grow on trees!

Thanks Guys :) .
I must admit, I had looked at the moon at the left of the screen. But had only checked out the phases - I hadn't actually checked the "Details..."
