I was about to say why isn't he in an Australian made Holden ?
Maybe a Barina isn't macho enough or would hold enough flags?

I love it. You just can't get too Aussie for my liking.

Better than putting those stupid reindeer antlers on your car. What are they for again? World wildlife day or something... :P

I don't think he would get too far down the highway without having to remove a couple of the flags.
Cheers:thumbsup:

Good for him or her for having the courage to express such an opinion in today's ever heightening politically-correct world.

We are very to live in this country

Why is his decision to do this worthy of being insulted for?
His right to do this is just as important as your right not to.

Sadly, though, it's not much chop off the black stuff. And it doesn't suit a roof-top tent. I loved my old FC wagon and liked the (slightly modified) HQ but neither took me places like the 47 series troopie did. When it's time was over the only thing I could think of buying was a 78 series troopie. (They can also carry bigger telescopes :D.)

Whatever you think of his taste and/or motives one thing seems clear: he should not be driving down the road with those front three flags obscuring his vision. It would be fine in a procession or parade but otherwise he needs to be able to see the road clearly and without distraction.

I also notice that two of the flags on each side are not Aust. flags but I can't make out what they are.

Bart

A Barina isn't Aust made either.

Anyway, good on them, at least they are proud to be here and appreciate the lifestyle that we all take for granted.

A bit of light-hearted banter shouldn't be taken out of context and each to his own. One of the reasons I mainly lurk instead of participating.

Returning to my cave again. Bye! :nerd:

Yeah, I know it's not REAL Aussie - what is these days - They have tried their best to make up for that though.

Your link has caused drool to enter my keyboard too by the way Nath. :D

I didn't think the flags at the front would be a problem as most people drive looking down at their phones anyway don't they? ;)

This kind of blatant nationalism is nauseating and reminiscent of, "The good ol' boys from "Al-a-BAMMMA"; I've dealt with them before and, with few exceptions, they were red necked morons with a couple of functional brain cells between them. If this isn't a "Look at me...Look at me", I don't know what is.

If it's his right to act like a w****r, it's my right to name it up as such...

Rom.. I think I understand what you are saying?.. That the gentlemen concerned has confused unquestioning nationalism with patriotism.

There might have been a somewhat less inflammatory way to make the point.

LewisM

The other green flag is almost assuredly the Boxing Kangaroo flag.

W****R? No, not until he/she starts the racial/religion slurs like so many of his/her ilk are prone to do, especially on Straya Day :mad2::screwy:

You've made up your mind and insulted someone you do not know, based purely on outward appearances. That is prejudice.
I trust the irony is not lost.

Hi Ben, I'm not convinced that those "outward appearances" aren't exactly how that individual wants to be seen. This is not some poor fellow who is being judged based on something he had no say in, or control over. This man is the product of a massive effort to create an outward appearance, also known as an election campaign.

I'm also not convinced that the individual above would feel insulted at all by Rom's remarks. I think they are quite a welcome reaction. Dissent, and "us vs. them" is what his policies are based on.

So Mirko is an authority on how people want to be seen?

Did you ever think they could just love living in Australia and could even have a sense of humour?

Dissent and us vs them are who's policies?

Yours?

Intolerance :(

AussieTrooper
26-01-2017, 05:58 PM
Correct. You aren't sure.
Do you have the same opinion when you see a Sikh dressed in a turban and traditional garb? Are they a "w****r" with an "us vs them" policy?
Both are expressing themselves in their own way.

Hi Ben and Brendon, apologies, I wasn't actually referring to the flag guy but to another man who won a certain election recently. My fault for only half-reading a thread while doing other stuff at the same time, incl. reading unpleasant news from overseas. Trying to be efficient but failed miserably.

Sorry. :(

Not much of Australia made stuff left, good on him/her.

It's nice to see someone who actually stands by what they say, and when they realise they've made a mistake, apologise for it.
Well done mate. :)

By the tatters the flags are all in on the trailing edges I would say that they do in fact drive with at least the two main front ones fitted, the one on the bonnet I reckon is just draped there.

Funny enough, just this weekend I was outside and heard a godawful tearing noise coming down the road (I live on a 100kmh road and with a long straight stretch both ways) and along comes another 4WD with a pair of massive Australian flags attached to the bullbar while driving. They damn near reached back to the windscreen so visibility would have been pretty badly compromised.
