I recorded the data for these images of the Omega Nebula back in July to September 2016. Part of my strategy is to record as much high quality data as possible during the dry winter months, and then catch up on the processing during the cloudy summer months.

Some of you will not like the strong rich colour of these portraits. I am sorry for that, but hopefully a few of you will share my sense of the aesthetic. I guess we will have to agree to disagree, respectfully.

Technical details: Televue Nagler Petzval 127is at f/4.2, Astronomik 12-nm SII, Ha and OIII filters, QSI683wsg camera cooled to -20 Celsius. All sub-frames at 1x1 binning.

Exposure times for the sub-frames: H alpha: 24 x 20 minutes, OIII: 28 x 30 minutes, SII: 12 x 40 minutes.

Hi Murray,
quality data collection.
I'd like to see the individual mono frames of: Ha, S2 & O3
to see what they show as separate detail.

cheers
Allan

Quite like the colour scheme of the first one, nicely captured Murray :)

Dear Alan,

As per your request, here are thumb nails of the H alpha, SII and OIII frames.

These are just quick masked-stretches of the calibrated and stacked sub-frames. No care taken.

Best wishes, Murray

I always like a good green nebula.Seems to suit their ghostly nature.
Nicely done in both instances though
