These were only test shots iso 1600 exposures about 60 seconds. I was very tired having not recovered from the drive up, the house was a mess when I got home and spent hours sweeping and cleaning but it was still a mess:) ..I could not get the new eq6 to do what I wanted as the intended scope needs a mounting bar replaced:) ...so...
anyways managed these shots thur the 300mm $180 lens with the 300d on 80mm guide scope ..but unguided on a eq5 mount.. they are not great but its been so long I could not throw them back;) :D

Hi Alex,
They are very good pictures, the Focus is sharp (not easy using a 300mm Lens + EOS300D) and the colour also is good, in fact amazing if its not an ED glass Lens, keep up the good work.
I recently purchased a 70-300mm ED Lens secondhand but havent received it as yet, it will be interesting to compare results.

cheers.......Jim

Alex,

Nicely done.

I like the framing of the Eta Carina image.

The lens is a "Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm".
Thanks for the encouragement every one.
The moral of the story is for those who may be wondering about having a go what a cheap entry level, cheap mount, cheap camera, and cheap lens can get some satisfying shots in a dark site. There is more in this lens I recon if I can get the focus better..I did not give it much of a work out and focusing ...mmmm there has to be a better way.
