:welcome: Hi, finished this the other day. I put some serious time into this one: 25x5mins 6x30secs. Because this galaxy has such a bright core I took the short exposures and did a layer mask blend. Equipment: homemade 18" Newt and one arm fork mount, QHY8 CCD camera, manually guided, processed in Photoshop
Clear skies

yes it's green but I still like it.
Nice detail.
maybe this is where the incredible hulk come from....oh no that was an experiment....lol
I just read Mike's post....we think alike.
Your right it is fairly green now that you mention it. Not hard to correct, had trouble with colour balance with this camera compared to a DSLR . Debayering the Fits images might have something to do with it. It,s early days with this camera and i have lots to learn. Ken
Still a nice image, Ken.
Don't mind us. We enjoy pointing out the bleedin' obvious:lol:

Mate I idolised the Incredible Hulk as a boy and he was a major infuence in my determination to try and become the World's Strongest Man, I even went to two fancy dress parties as him, so I like green, trust me... just doesn't suit a galaxy :P
The detail is quite good though so if you are able to correct the colour it will be a fine image!
Mike
Nice image.... colour? care? the detail is great! I don't think anyone will ever see it at that range to say what exact colour our eyes would perceive it as anyway.....
Homemade 18"/fork mount???? - do you have any pics?

Excellent image Ken, beautiful structure and I love a nice barrel spiral.
Hi Ken, thats a nicely detailed image, the dust lanes really stand out.
Maybe just a tad of colour correction is needed to even out the colours.
but it is still a nice image.
Well done

Nice image Ken.
Keep at it. The 18" newt looks to be a performer. Like to see some images of your setup. There is nothing like home made.

Aside the colour imbalance, a very beautiful shot Ken !
HI thanks for the kind words. I changed the colour balance increasing the blue. Sorry I don't have any recent images of scope or mount I will take some shortly. I have recently rebuilt the mount as a one arm fork ,felt sorry for it after I cut its arm off. Flexure becomes a real problem ,10mm thick steel plate does bend lick rubber. Clear skies Ken.
