Just got a canon 55 - 250m stm lens for my 700D and pointed it at the moon.
No processing. Hand held at F20, 1/10sec, iso-100.
I haven't done any dslr astro photos before, it's all been webcam type stuff up till now.
It's been a while, starting to get that astro bug again.

try again f8 and see the difference as the shutter speed will be greater you will get a sharper shot

All my best moon single frames are taken at ISO 1600 and shutter speed
between 1/2500 and 1/4000th depending upon the moon phase. These fast speeds mean the exposure is pretty much over before the mirror and
shutter vibrations get going.

Thanks for the tips. Time to experiment. After the clouds roll back out.

Try a small telescope instead of camera lenses... http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=208844
Camera lenses ARE small telescopes.
He just needs to set a faster shutter speed.
