Hi
Here is a composite image of a high resolution Theta 1 Orionis and an M42 wide field image. The (hi res) Trapezium was imaged in B&W using a Celestron C9.25, Televue x5 Powermate and SBIG ST7E ccd camera.
The (wide field) background was provided from an image with the Celestron C9.25 at Prime Focus (F10) with a Pentax *ist DS DSLR. The central region of M42 was cropped from the full frame and resampled upwards to match the image scale of the ST7E detailed image.
The two images were registered, aligned and manipulated using layers in Corel PhotoPaint.

As good a Trapezium shot as I've seen Big D.
Great work and nice to see creative use of image combinations - I like it
On this DSLR biased forum it is also nice to see sombody else is using a teeny weeny chip like me - they have there advantages huh? :P
Of course I will have a big super cooled 35mm format chip any day now though:cool:  :jump2:  :xmas: :sunny: :stargaze:  :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Yes its amazing what can be accomplished with amateur scopes nowdays. Great idia using the small but high res. SBIG chip for luminance, and the bigger DSLR for the colour.

No I am just crazy with anticipation, I can't sleep properly, can't work properly and can't even relate to my family properly at the moment, not sure how much more I can stand
At least I have the new glossy white pier to sit in front of for hours and just stare at..... :screwy:

If a picture is worth 1000 words, that poignant photograph of your obvious suffering is worth at least 1,000,000.

Dennis,
That is wonderful work.
You've presented this wondrous object in a surreal fashion.
Oh, and the pinpoint stars. Gorgeous.
I love it.

Humayun
