a single 2 min exposure to see the effects of the UHC-S filter.
ED 100 w/ 6.3 reducer. Canon 350D iso1600.
1. with filter
2. without
l'm not really sure which one l prefer.

Hi Mick, i must admit i havent shot anything (only afocally) with my UHC yet, cause i guessed the filter might make the stars that peculiar green/blue color you see thru the EP.
At least the image without the UHC has the stars as natural light and presents a greater gas field.

yeah I like without.....but Mick your going to see the benifit with the UHC-S filter with much longer exposures.
2 minutes is too short to get the benifit of the filter.
Compare image's with and without on 5 -10 minute exposures.

Hi Mick
There is a contrast boost with the filter mate and I would say an increase in dynamic range . Like Tony mentioned,you will start seeing the benifit when you align & combine several images and you'll find It a lot easier to stretch with pleasing results .

Thanks for posting that. I'm yet to purchase any contrast enhancing or light pollution removing filters. Gives me an idea of what to expect with short exposures.
