Clouds of Andromeda

Hello everyone.

I haven't written here in years... five to be exact... Apologies for that!! My latest image is a bit unusual so that motivated me to share with you. I hope you enjoy it.

This is the first image I know of the Andromeda galaxy that also shows at high resolution, depth and full color several of the very faint dust cirrus clouds emitting light (as opposed to reflecting it) in the deep red that happen to be in this very same field of view, despite they have never been captured like this until now.

I too love this image.

I shared it with the ASV and found Perry Vlahos' response very interesting....

"If they are real, then they're not 'clouds of Andromeda', they're clouds of the Milky Way, in our spiral arms between us and M31."

I'm assuming that this is a HaLRGB capture?
If you get a chance, I would be very interested to know the capture/filter/sub details.

Fabulous Rogelio. And look how large the star cloud is around the galaxy. I have often thought galaxies are a lot larger than they are depicted in many of our images. They are so far away that only the brightest areas show up usually.

Yes, these clouds are in our Milky Way galaxy, they just happen to be in the same field of view. If they were around M31, their size would be beyond humongous. "Clouds of Andromeda" is more of an artistic title because in the end, I'm more of an artist than a scholar.

As for the IF question at the beginning, I guess it means he wasn't expecting to see those clouds, which is a nice compliment in a way :)

Well, it did provoke me quite a lot as I was getting done with the image, so I mostly "used" what was already there :)

I'll certainly try to do my share and stop by more often! Blame "fuzzbook", sucking most of my "social" time!
