hello members
has any body here mounted a g11 on some sort of pier tripod, my meade GFT has had the dick after good outdoor use
i was looking at the ioptron tri pier but not sure if adaption is possible, (i have the MAL plate on the GFT) and further not sure if modification could work, would it be ok on a g11 / c11 combo?
regards and any quick advice or help would be greatly appreciated

What about a portable tension leg pier (Astro-Physics style) I have seen G11s on this style of pier - it is a good fit. Main problem with them is they need reasonably flat ground - no steep hills

Otherwise invest in a Berlebach - they are wonderful tripods

Teleskop-express sell a number of adaptor plates for variuos scopes on various piers, might be worth a look in mount acessories.

yes i should have thought about TS optics, however the ioptron site do supply top plates for the tri pier, one for a g11 was not mentioned
i will look into it though
i wonder if the losmandy MA adapter which i have could be modded to the tri pier?

The Losmandy field tripod is a work of art. You can sit a couple of hundred kg on it and it wont wobble. For the price, worth it. If you are working from one spot, whack the MAL on a 150mm pier. Works a treat...
