In a 19th Dec 2016 article (http://spectrum.ieee.org/the-human-os/biomedical/devices/human-cells-eat-nanowires)in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers (IEEE) Spectrum Magazine, Emily Waltz reports on how University
of Chicago researchers have observed human cells absorbing silicon
nanowires.
This observation brings about the hope of new therapies where small
molecule drug delivery might be carried on nanowires, bypassing some
cell's natural barriers.
