Hi

Here is my 2nd attempt of the 2006 Saturn season. I did an all nighter trying to get my auto guiding rig set up, but was somewhat thwarted by intermittent clouds that kept rolling in, preventing me from really getting stuck into auto guiding.

So, grabbed some nice ccd images of the trapezium and waited until Saturn showed his face. Then, in the incoming twilight I managed to grab a few avi’s when the seeing suddenly turned quite good, with spells of 7 to 8/10.

Celestron C9.25, Televue x2.5 Powermate, Philips ToUcam 840K.
Acquired in K3CCDTools. Processed in Registax. Brisbane, Australia, 23rd November 2006.

1/25 sec, 5fps, Gamma 30%, Gain 60%. 115 frames from 924. 4:26am AEST (GMT+10).

1/25 sec, 5fps, Gamma 30%, Gain 50%. 451 frames from 1001. 4:15am AEST (GMT+10).

Cheers

Great stuff Dennis, nice thin CD, a hint of crepe ring and the nice green band on the north part of the planet just under the rings.

Thanks guys!

Just for the heck of it, I plugged in the x5 Powermate before I packed up this morning. The avi timestamp is 4:37am. Sunrise was at 4:45am with twilight at 3:16am. I just managed to get away with it.

Cheers

Lovely Dennis

I think the 50% gain is marginally better, but they are both very nice:thumbsup:

OMG these imaging threads read like a wine tasting convention:lol: a quaff here, a rich boquet there, rounded with a hint of smooth.....

Thanks for including the technical info with those lovely images, it gives poor buggers like me something to work at understanding. :) :)

its strange when your setting up to do some imaging, because you know countless others across the country are doing the same thing and when your all setup and have saturn in the fov, you wonder just how many people are looking up at that same place :)
