Just saw the temperature hit 40C in the shade outside my kitchen, and inside the observatory hit 50.9C, with the door propped open and the exhaust fan running. There are no scopes, cameras, or computers in there now, i removed them last night into the air conditioned house. Time to pack up everything till February. The Seeing is terrible anyway, even after midnight the earth is still shedding all this heat and the stars at zenith are still dancing around, and even if it was to improve there is no way my camera cooler can hold -25C on these hot nights.
Good to have a break i guess.:P

Just checked inside my observatory. Its cooler inside than outside.
I have aircell insulation under the roof and behind all the walls and it seems to be doing a good job.
Greg.

Thanks Greg but there is much more to this than insulation. Insulation will not lower night time temps, or improve seeing, etc. Packing it in for awhile will give me a chance to do a mount hypertune service, rebuild the pier top with a proper adaptor for my mount, and avoid the frustration of hot summer nights.

You've already owned at least one FSQ-85 and FSQ-106's. Time for a FSQ-130? :P

If you get to Canberra before 24 Feb, I might be able to loan you a TSA so you can get in the gate at Tak-Attack 2017 ;)

Yeah! Lets all get 130s, then promise to image the same targets at once!
