I'm testing out a 20 degree objective prism set up on the ED80.
Took a one minute exposure of the Orion Nebula with the modded Canon 1000D. The Ha and Hb regions stand out very nicely....
Looking carefully at the spectra I saw a fainter star which shows a Ha emission - typical of a Be star.
Checking the field with CdC (using the standard Hipparcos star catalogue) nothing showed up!!!
Hmm
Used Dylan's recent 3 hr image to verify the area and he shows a star in my calculated position???? But why nothing on CdC????
Changing the catalogue to Tycho brought up TYC 4778-1369-1 (HD37115).
This is given as a B7Ve C star of mag 7.32
Don't know why it didn't show under the Hipparcos catalogue? (any ideas?)
The exercise shows the capability of the objective prism to find this type of object.
